Learning a music instrument is one of the most significant endeavors that you can undertake. With dozens of options available, you can easily find an instrument that suits your personality and tastes. In addition to that, learning an instrument not only gives you musical talent, but it also has a number of advantages. These advantages are some of the main reasons why everyone should consider learning a musical instrument.

Learning a Music Instrument Enhances Your Memory

It’s a familiar issue for nearly everyone. Forgetting important information is one of the most problematic trials that many people face. One solution to boost your memory is to play a music instrument. Studies have shown that those that play musical instruments have a more alert and active mind, which then works to effectively sharpen memory. In addition, because learning a music instrument requires memorization of musical elements, you immediately need to learn how to store information better and recall that information on demand. So if you are looking to stave off the effect of age, pick up an instrument and learn to play. (more…)

ClarinetMusic is an art that never dies, as it remains part of an increasing interest all over the world. Its exposure, appreciation and methodology come largely recommended by notable education researchers as well. Yet, many parents don’t encourage their children to learn it in primary grades.

They may see it as a waste of time, or, perhaps, in an effort to appease a reluctant music student, they may not pursue and press for a music curriculum. In doing so, parent’s inadvertently place their kids at a disadvantage because music offers at lease six benefits that other extra-curricular activities don’t.

Music Improves Math Skills

According to the Mathematical Association of America, math paves the way to a huge array of career options[1], making it and anything that facilitates its knowledge, like music, extremely important to the next generation’s job force. Music helps students understand math’s basic concepts through counting and timing or pacing. Even music’s own language, notation, uses fractions to dictate tempo, and it becomes a complementary math-based activity when taught and practiced on a regular basis. (more…)

Why Looks Are Important As A Musician

June 3, 2014 Posted by Jimmy White

GuitarIf you’re a musician, your biggest concern is probably how your music sounds and whether or not fans dig your new songs. However, it would be pretty crazy to think that looks don’t play at least a small part in why we love some of our favorite musicians. Beyond their gorgeous faces and fit bodies, we idolize some of our favorite chart-toppers thanks to their stunning and trendsetting hair looks. To help demonstrate why musicians’ looks matter, here are three examples of divas who are known for their beautiful hair.

Taylor Swift

If you’re a musician, you’d be wise to take a cue from Taylor Swift. Over the course of her career, she’s used her hair to reflect her musical evolution. When she was a young country crooner just starting out, she demonstrated her girl-next-door charm with lengthy curls. As she grew up, she experimented with a chic hipster look, straightening her long hair and getting bangs. Now, as Taylor continues to mature, she’s chopped off her famous locks, showing us that she’s definitely become a mature and sophisticated woman. While Taylor is rocking a bob right now, we imagine that she might want to grow her hair out again, like so many women who’ve made the big chop. If you’re trying to regrow your hair after a cut, try adding these ten power foods that boost hair growth to your diet.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry is proof that musicians must always change up their look if they want to stay exciting and relevant. She’s known for her snow white fair skin and her pitch black hair, but she’s also mixed it up in recent years, adding vibrant colors like blue and green. If you’re a musician who wants Katy’s bold look but sometimes feel less than perfect, don’t fret: Katy is just like us and has battled with acne, in addition to oily hair. If you want to do like Katy and combat your oily scalp, try these shampoos designed for treating oily hair.

Beyonce has had one of the biggest hair evolutions in the history of music. Whether she’s rocking long, highlighted locks or chopping it all off and working an asymmetrical bob, Bey’s locks are always stunning. However, if you’re like Beyonce and have decided to use extensions to give your natural hair some gorgeous length, then you might be experiencing some dryness and damage. Be sure to use a thick hair mask or deep conditioning treatment once a week to keep your hair healthy while wearing extensions.

If you’re a musician, you’d be smart to take a cue from these three divas and pay attention to how your hair reflects your overall style. Looks can bolster your popularity and reputation as a musician, in addition to reflecting the evolution of your musical smile. Whether you’re simple and flirty like Taylor, daring like Katy or a trendsetter like Beyonce, have fun with your look and find a style that reflects the essence of you.
